As of 19:00 CET, Russia continues to conduct full-scale aggression against Ukraine. More than 60 battalion tactical groups (BTGs) have been deployed on the territory of Ukraine (in total 90 BTGs were placed at Ukraine`s borders). The enemy focuses its main forces on the Slobozhansky (Kharkiv region), Seversky (Donetsk region), and Tavriya (southern regions) directions.
Using the territory of Belarus (Luninets airfield), Russian armed forces carried out demonstration actions along the northern borders of Ukraine by Su-25SM aircrafs.
The nature of the military invasion indicates that the main purpose of kremlin regime is to block Kyiv, create a land corridor to the occupied Crimean peninsula and a self-proclaimed Transnistria. Another goal of the aggressor is to inflict damage on critical civilian infrastructure, which is regularly hit by air and missile strikes.
On Kyiv direction, an air tactical landing troops (up to 200 Russian soldiers) were landed at the Gostomel airfield. As of 22:00 CET the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not allow the main forces of the enemy to land in Gostomel. The battle continues with the advanced group, which suffered losses (some sources reported that Ukrainian forces overtook control over Gostomel).
The battle continues in Kherson area. The enemy is trying to bypass the city from the east and to continue the offensive in the direction of Mykolaiv. Buyalik (railway node in Odesa region) was hit by two missile strikes.
Mechanized and tank units are defending in the north along the Peremoha-Hlukhiv border (Sumy region). The column of Russian occupants stopped.
1st Separate Tank Brigade continues the battle on the outskirts of Chernihiv.
The enemy has an extremely low morale. An example is the defence of Sumy and Okhtyrka (Sumy region), where a small supply unit, armed only with small arms, has cleared the hometown of the Russian assault battalion.

Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov says that heavy battles continue in Luhansk and Sumy regions, north of the capital. The situation remains difficult in the southern regions.
The minister said the Kremlin was preparing a new wave of attacks, including the airborne landings, but Ukrainian army is ready to meet them.
“We are actively using samples of modern weapons received from partners. The world is imposing sanctions. Anti-war demonstrations have begun in Russia. Tomorrow Russians will learn about the price of Putin’s madness,” he said.

Operation of the power system
During the evening peak of consumption on February 24, Ukraine’s power system is operating in a normal way. The frequency is controlled at the level of 50 Hz, the actual amount of reserves is provided.
At the same time, despite the extremely difficult working conditions, NPC Ukrenergo fully carried out the measures provided for February 24 under the test programme of the isolated operation mode of the power system of Ukraine for the preparation of synchronization with ENTSO-E.
Generation
The peak of consumption on February 24 was at 18:50 and amounted to 16.97 MW. The NPP load was 10 GW, TPP – 3.4 GW, and CHP – 1.1 GW. Hydroelectric power plants more than doubled their load during the peak period – from 0.845 GW at 3 pm up to 2.05 GW at 7 pm.
As of 20:00, 13 out of 15 NPP power units are operating in the power system, due to lack of fuel, three CHP power units and two TPP power units are not operating.
A shell hit the coal depot of Trypilska TPP, however, the power plant continues to provide the load of 203 MW. The connection with Kakhovska HPP and Chornobyl NPP has been lost.
Operation of power grids
OHL 330 kV Nizhyn-Konotop was disconnected after the damage, but this did not lead to consumer outages.

Dmytro Kuleba: The United States has imposed tough sanctions on Russia and is preparing to supply new defensive weapons to Ukraine
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The heads of Ukrainian and American diplomacy exchanged their assessments of the security situation during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Antony Blinken expressed great appreciation of the actions made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, all national defense forces to resist the Russian attack and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.
Secretary informed Dmytro Kuleba on the content of the new US sanctions against Russia to force it into peace.
Secretary Blinken also confirmed that Washington is considering supplying new defensive weapons to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

As of 7:00 p.m. CET, the situation in the Donetsk area of operations has been tense, but controlled by the United Armed Forces. The shelling of the Russian troops continues.
All military units and Ukrainian soldiers show unprecedented courage and heroism. The United Armed Forces were able to demolish the Kremlin plan of a quick surrender.
Despite the numerous enemy attacks, aviation, artillery and missile attacks and a large amount of armed equipment, the enemy was not able to move deep into Ukraine in an easterly direction.
Ukrainian defenders managed to fight back the attacks, defending all important settlements and infrastructure objects.
Towards Luhansk during the day, the most fierce battles were for Shchastya, Stanytsia Luganska, Lobacheve, Bilovodsk, Starobilska. In the battle for Shchastya, two enemy tanks were destroyed and one tank and one ZU-23-2 seized.
In the area of the occupied Sentyanivka, our gunners stopped the fire of the enemy mixed column of armored equipment, fences and car equipment.
In the direction of Donetsk, the hottest was in the settlements Novotroíitske, Novognativke, Pavlopiv and Pishchevyk.

Government decided to implement the civil protection plan in order to provide most effective defence of the state and protection of the population in the context of hostilities against the Russian aggressor.

SES regional departments throughout Ukraine continue to carry out tasks to eliminate the consequences of the shelling of settlements by Russian troops, to provide assistance to the affected population and local authorities in organizing the evacuation of the population.
Donetsk region
The SES has deployed and ensured the operation of the point of providing assistance to the population on the basis of the secondary school № 5 in Krasnohorivka, with the help of a diesel power plant provided power supply and boiler house, which provides heat to the school building. Since the beginning of its work, 814 people have applied to the aid point.
Cherkasy region
The fire in a two-storey residential building in the village of Palanka, which arose as a result of a projectile. Measures are being taken to extinguish fires in the private sector and warehouses in the city of Uman (on an area of 3 thousand square meters).
Kirovograd region
SES units eliminated fires in ammunition depots in the village of Bogdanivka.
Vinnytsia region
SES units extinguished fire on the territory of the arsenal in Kalynivka.
In total, 7,300 people and 2,000 special fire and rescue equipment were involved in the SES operations to eliminate the consequences of shelling, extinguish fires and provide assistance to the affected population.

On Thursday, February 24, from 7:00 am to 4:20 pm, the level of consumption in the power system decreased from 18.3 GW to 15.8 GW. Currently, the level of consumption begins to increase before the evening peak: as of 17:00 – 16.1 GW. The load of the NPPs is 10.98 GW, TPPs – 3.3 GW, HPPs – 1.39 GW.
Large-scale generation facilities, except Luhanska TPP, are operating in a normal way. Despite the explosion near the power plant and damage to the high-voltage line, currently, there are two power units (№1 and №4) operating at Trypilska TPP with a total load of 203 MW.
13 out of 15 NPP power units are in operation. Only 1 power unit №10 of Luhanska TPP is in emergency repair, due to lack of fuel 2 power units at Trypilska TPP are not operating, as well as one at Kharkiv CHP-5, Kyiv CHP-5, and CHP-6.
Operation of power grids
OHL Trypilska TPP – Novokyivska was damaged. At the same time, Trypilska TPP operates at full capacity (209 MW).
OHL 35 kV Verkhnya Typlovska – Plotyna was disconnected from the distribution network of Luhansk Energy Association LLC at 7 am due to the damage, and OHL 35 kV Raihorodska-Shchastya was disconnected at 8 am.
Dispatch service personnel of DTEK Odesa power grids was evacuated due to explosion.
Dispatch service personnel of Bakhmut regional network service centre of NPC Ukrenergo was evacuated due to hostilities.
RES curtailment
From 8:56 to 13:38 due to the significantly reduced level of consumption in the power system, commands were given to unload RES (via RES curtailment management system) for a total of 897 MW, as well as commands for RES unloading due to operational security reasons. As of 17:00, RES load was 80 MW.

The enemy continues to act aggressively along the entire line of the common border. Using the airfields of Belarus, Russian armed forces performs demonstration activities along the northern part of the Ukraine`s state border.
In the Sivers’kyi region, the enemy was stopped on the Uzh River near the Velyki Osnyaky and Rivnopillya (Chernihiv region). The tank battle continues. Units of the First separate tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped columns of enemy armoured vehicles near Baturyn and on the outskirts of Chernihiv.
The enemy attempted to land a tactical landing troops along the Kyiv reservoir (to the north of the capital).
20 helicopters KA-52 and Mi-8 of the Russian Federation landed at Gostomel airfield. The battle continues (Kyiv region).
The National Guard of Ukraine is fighting near the city of Pripyat (close to Chernobyl zone).
The enemy landed a tactical landing troops in the Bessarabian and Tavriya operational areas (Odesa region).
After an unsuccessful landing attempt and an unsuccessful missile strike, the enemy missile cruiser “Moscow” started shelling Snake Island (Black Sea).

The forces of the “South” group of Armed Forces organized the defence of Melitopol and conducted a defence operation on the border of the settlements of Abrikosivka, Rykove, Azov (Kherson region).

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy called on the EU to immediately apply severe sanctions on Moscow to stop the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine.

Gas TSO of Ukraine

As of 18.00 on February 24, Gas TSO of Ukraine continues to perform its functions of natural gas transmission to consumers. Due to military operations in the areas where the company’s facilities are located, GTSOU is operating in the mode with maximum security measures. There are no victims or injured among employees of the company. Given the possible changes in the situation, we are planning additional measures to keep employees of facilities in the high-risk area safe.
Gas TSO of Ukraine continues to reliably balance the system by promptly fulfilling the requests of customers of transmission services, which change due to the hostilities.
Today, due to the threat of fire as a result of shelling and at the request of gas distribution network operators, Gas TSO of Ukraine was forced to suspend the operation of two gas distribution stations (GDS) in the collision zones in Luhansk and Kharkiv regions. This, accordingly, led to the disconnection of consumers that receive gas through these GDSs. As soon as the threat passes, the gas supply will be promptly resumed.
Also during the day several GDSs were temporarily de-energized as a result of damaged power grids in Kherson, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions and therefore backup power supply facilities were used.
Despite the emergency conditions, the company continues to work in the normal mode. Our task is to provide the country with the necessary fuel, and we are doing everything we can to ensure it.
